COMPs & FESTIVALS

The KCDS Performance Company is reserved for exceptionally talented dancers who are dedicated to representing the school at local festivals and competitions, with the goal of qualifying for the All England Dance Finals. Members are also provided with numerous performance, workshop, and audition opportunities.

To join, dancers must demonstrate excellence across a range of dance styles, achieve strong exam results, and show exceptional aptitude, technique, skill, performance, and commitment.

Members are required to commit to intensive weekly training on Wednesdays, additional private lessons, as well as hours of rehearsals and practice in preparation for these high-level competitions.

Competitions take place over weekends and during school holidays.

Performances

At KCDS, there are plenty of exciting performance opportunities for our students—ranging from local fairs and competitions to our annual shows. These performances are an essential part of what we offer. Not only are they fun, but they also build confidence and create cherished memories that students and families can look back on for years to come.

Parents are invited to watch their child’s class three times a year, at the end of the Autumn, Spring, and Summer terms. Additionally, there is a short performance at the end of all our holiday workshops and summer schools.

Past KCDS performances include prestigious venues such as Disneyland Paris, The O2, Theatre Royal Drury Lane, Her Majesty’s Theatre, as well as local events like Warlingham Fair, school fetes, harvest festivals, and charity events.

Our pupils have also successfully auditioned for and performed with esteemed organisations such as the English Youth Ballet, National Youth Theatre, and London Children’s Ballet. They have landed roles in major productions like The Lion King (both for the UK Tour and London’s West End), School of Rock, Tina the Musical, and performed in pantomimes at Croydon’s Fairfield Halls.
